DGS is a passive emerging-markets small-cap equity ETF that targets dividend-paying companies and weights holdings by the total dollars of dividends paid, not by market value. It pulls from the smallest slice of the broader WisdomTree EM dividend universe (roughly the bottom 10% by market cap), then reconstitutes and rebalances annually with country/sector caps set at the screening date.
You own a basket of smaller emerging-market companies that have recently paid meaningful dividends. The bigger the company’s total dividend checks, the bigger its weight in the fund.
