VIS is a passive sector ETF built to mirror a U.S. industrials index (MSCI US IMI 25/50 Industrials) using market-cap weighting. It aims to hold most of the same industrial companies as the index and in roughly the same proportions, with built-in concentration limits (the “25/50” rules) to avoid any single stock dominating the fund.
You’re buying a big basket of U.S. industrial companies—think machinery, aerospace/defense, transportation, construction/engineering, and business services. The fund owns the stocks directly, from mega-caps down into smaller and even micro-cap names, based on what the index classifies as “Industrials.”
