VHT is a passive sector ETF built to track the MSCI US IMI 25/50 Health Care Index, giving market-cap-weighted exposure to U.S. healthcare stocks across large, mid, and small caps. It aims to mirror the index by holding (nearly) the same names in (roughly) the same proportions, with index rules that cap concentration (the 25/50 limits) and quarterly rebalancing to stay aligned.
You’re buying a big basket of U.S. healthcare companies—drug makers, biotech firms, medical device companies, and healthcare service providers. Bigger companies get bigger slices of the fund because it weights holdings by market value.
