Loading IEF detail
IEF is a passive Treasury ETF built to track an index of U.S. government bonds with 7–10 years remaining to maturity. It uses an indexing approach (representative sampling) to closely mirror the ICE U.S. Treasury 7–10 Year Bond Index, which is refreshed monthly and holds a small set of eligible issues.
You own a basket of U.S. Treasury notes that mature roughly 7 to 10 years from now. If interest rates rise, these bonds usually drop in price; if rates fall, they usually rise.
