CATH is a passive US large-cap equity ETF that starts with the S&P 500, then removes companies tied to activities considered inconsistent with Catholic values (based on USCCB guidelines).
After exclusions, it reweights holdings to keep sector exposures close to the S&P 500, aiming to stay “index-like” while applying a values screen.
The fund primarily uses replication (or sampling when needed) and targets very high tracking to its underlying index.
You own shares of many big US companies, similar to the S&P 500. The difference is it skips certain companies if they have any revenue from specific screened activities, then rebalances so the mix of sectors still resembles the S&P 500.
