EWT is a passive equity ETF built to mirror the performance of large- and mid-cap Taiwanese stocks using the MSCI Taiwan 25/50 Index.
It uses market-cap weighting but adds issuer caps to reduce single-stock dominance: no one company can be more than 25%, and big holdings (those above 5% each) can’t collectively exceed 50%.
The result is broad Taiwan exposure with built-in concentration limits versus a fully uncapped benchmark.
You’re buying a basket of publicly traded companies from Taiwan, mostly the biggest and most established ones. The fund spreads the weight out so one mega-company can’t completely take over the portfolio.
