VOE is a passive ETF built to mirror the CRSP US Mid Cap Value Index, targeting U.S. mid-sized companies that screen as “value.
” It uses a five-factor value model—book value, earnings (forward and historical), dividends, and sales relative to price—to score stocks, then weights them based on that composite score.
The index is reviewed quarterly, keeping the portfolio aligned with changing fundamentals and prices.
You own a big basket of U.S. mid-sized companies that look “cheap” based on multiple fundamental yardsticks. VOE just follows the index rules and holds stocks in roughly the same weights as the index.
