SCHD is a passive U.S. equity ETF built to track the Dow Jones U.S. Dividend 100 Index—100 American companies with long, consistent dividend histories. It starts with firms that have paid dividends for at least 10 straight years, then ranks them using quality and dividend metrics (like cash flow vs. debt, return on equity, dividend yield, and dividend growth) and weights holdings mostly by market size with caps on single stocks and sectors.
You own shares of 100 U.S. companies that have a long track record of paying dividends. The fund leans toward bigger, financially stronger businesses and does not include REITs (real estate investment trusts).
