IYE is a passive U.S. energy sector ETF designed to mirror the Russell 1000 Energy RIC 22.
5/45 Capped Index. It uses market-cap weighting, but applies quarterly caps to limit how dominant any single company (and the biggest names as a group) can become.
The result is a large- and mid-cap U.S. energy portfolio with built-in concentration controls that can still drift between rebalances as prices move.
You’re buying a basket of big U.S. energy companies—mainly businesses involved in producing, transporting, and selling oil and gas. Instead of picking one energy stock, you own many at once, with rules that try to stop one company from taking over the whole fund.
