EWZ is a passive equity ETF built to mirror the MSCI Brazil 25/50 Index, giving market-cap-weighted exposure to publicly traded Brazilian companies primarily listed on Brazil’s B3 exchange. It uses an issuer cap rule (25/50) to prevent any single company—or a small cluster of big names—from dominating the fund, and it refreshes holdings on a quarterly schedule.
You’re buying a basket of Brazilian stocks in one trade, weighted so bigger companies take up more space. There are built-in limits so one mega-company can’t completely take over the basket.
