DFAT is an actively managed U.S. equity ETF focused on mid- and small-cap value stocks, with an explicit goal of improving after-tax outcomes. It tilts toward companies the manager views as “cheap” (low relative price) but with stronger business quality signals (higher profitability), while using tax-management techniques to delay and reduce realized capital gains.
You own a big basket of smaller U.S. companies that look inexpensive compared to their fundamentals. The manager actively adjusts which stocks are in the basket and tries to be smart about when to sell so taxes can be lower.
