VO is a passive mid-cap U.S. equity ETF built to track the CRSP US Mid Cap Index using market-cap weighting. It aims to closely mirror the index by holding (essentially) all the underlying stocks in roughly the same proportions, with the index reviewed quarterly.
You’re buying a big basket of mid-sized U.S. companies, not one or two names. The bigger the company, the bigger its slice of the fund—plus it can include REITs (public real estate stocks).
