Loading VBIL detail
VBIL is a passive ETF built to closely track the Bloomberg U.S. Treasury Bills 0–3 Months Index.
It does this mostly by “sampling,” meaning it holds a representative mix of very short-dated T-bills rather than every single bill in the index, targeting an average maturity under three months (the index was about 1.
2 months as of 12/31/2024). It may also use cash-like instruments (such as repurchase agreements or money market funds) to help manage tracking and liquidity.
This fund owns very short-term U.S. government IOUs (Treasury bills) that mature in about 1 to 3 months. You’re basically holding a rolling pile of near-cash Treasuries, not stocks or corporate bonds.
