VB is a passive equity ETF built to mirror the CRSP US Small Cap Index, targeting U.S. small-cap stocks. It uses a market-cap-weighted approach and aims to hold the index constituents in roughly the same proportions, with periodic index reviews (quarterly) driving changes.
You’re buying a big basket of smaller U.S. companies, not one or two “small-cap picks.” The fund automatically weights companies by their market size, so bigger small-caps matter more than tiny ones.
