SCHO is a passive Treasury ETF built to mirror the Bloomberg US Treasury 1–3 Year Index.
It holds USD-denominated, fixed-rate U.S. Treasury bonds with 1 to under 3 years remaining maturity, weighted by market value and refreshed monthly.
It excludes STRIPS (separated coupon/principal pieces) and certain special-issue Treasury bonds, keeping exposure clean and standard.
You own a basket of U.S. government IOUs that mostly come due in about 1 to 3 years. It’s like lending money to the U.S. government for a short time and collecting interest along the way.
