Loading IWMI detail
IWMI is an actively managed small-cap equity income ETF that targets the Russell 2000 ecosystem while selling (writing) call options on the Russell 2000 (RUT) to generate high monthly income. It builds its stock exposure through underlying Russell 2000 ETFs and/or a basket of Russell 2000 stocks, then monetizes upside by collecting option premiums. The trade-off is structural: the call-writing can cap gains in strong small-cap rallies.
You own a mix that behaves like US small-cap stocks (Russell 2000 exposure), often through other ETFs and/or a stock basket. On top of that, the fund sells “rent-a-check” contracts (call options) on the index to collect cash each month, but that can limit how much you benefit when small-caps surge.
