CGSM is an actively managed ETF that targets federally tax-exempt income by investing primarily in U.S. municipal bonds, while aiming to limit interest-rate sensitivity with a short duration profile. It focuses on mostly investment-grade muni debt, but keeps flexibility to buy a small sleeve of lower-rated bonds and to trade opportunistically when pricing looks attractive.
You own a basket of short-term loans made to U.S. states, cities, and related public entities (municipal bonds). The interest those bonds pay is generally exempt from regular federal income tax, and the fund is run by managers who pick and rotate bonds rather than tracking an index.
